The year 1999 wouldn't have been a spectacular year in most of the countries in the world, but it was full with excitement for Turkish public, and it was an extraordinary year for those who follow developments in Turkey closely, Fehmi Koru, as a Turk who makes his living as a journalist writing both for a Turkish paper as well as for Turkish Daily News, one and only English language paper in the country, took double thrill. He was meeting and discussing the events with foreign diplomats and dignitaries at nightly receptions. This has been the first collection of articles by a Turkish journalist in English and it chronicles the events of that fateful year: 1999
