'The Murders in the Rue Morgue' is Poe's first detective story, introducing the master detective M. Dupin. Like most of Poe's famous characters, he lives a life withdrawn from reality. The story is set in Paris, where two women are brutally murdered. 'The Gold Bug': William Legrand finds an old piece of parchment written in secret code. Using this he tries to find Captain Kidd's hidden treasure.
