First published in 1903, The Call Of The Wild is one of the masterpieces of American novelist and short story writer jack london (1876-1916). It is the story of a dog named Buck, stolen from his home and family, in the frozen Alaskan Klondike. Learning the fight for survival in a wild life, Buck bocomes a feared leader, thanks to his intelligence and curage. Wrongly considered simply a children's novel, this story evokes the harsh and frozen Yukon during the Gold Rush.
