A Faint Heart (1848) by Dostoevsky, is a testament to the author's brilliant sense of style and subtle treatment of the psychology of his characters. The narrative revolves around the life of a young clerk, just engaged and facing severe inner turmoil. As his vision of universal happiness collides with has his individual pleasure, he discovers that he cannot relish personal joys of marriage to a beautiful and young girl. An earlier work, it has plausible diagnosis of the human nature.
