This book aims to revisit the sonnet, which for centuries has remained and enduring poetic form due to its capacity to accommodate variation. The first part of the book gives a brief history of the form. The second part concentrates on the work of six modern poets who with their experimentation have brought innovation to the form without impairing its true identity. The third part concentrates on the contemporary sonnet and discusses the works of some of today's foremost poets of the English speaking world, proving that the sonnet has kept pace with the challenges put forth by changing trends in poetry and that its popularity still continues undiminished..
