Thus Spake Zarathustra was an attempt to provide a new meaning for human existence in a meaningless world. Nietzsche recognized the need for a set of positive values to direct the energy and will of Europe. in order to achieve this aim, he attacked the old system of values, both Christian morality of the old times and bourgeois values and socialist ideas of his age.
