There is a common understanding that "culture" and "nature" are two contradictory, even antagonistic, notions. This book plays an important role in disentangling this stereotype. The interaction of human beings with their environment plays a major role in the formation of culture. Original values of culture are in fact "natural" results of thes interaction. In turn, these values make pople "belong to the lands they live in". THe oroginal cultural hertage of Anatolia is a remarkable reflection of this fact.
